SEA ANIMALS
Read the passage and answer the questions
OCTOPU
Octopuses are sea animals. They live in the oceans. They have three hearts and long arms. They eat crabs and shellfish. They hunt mostly at night. They can change their colors and protect themselves.
EEL
Eels are sea animals that look like snakes. They have long and narrow bodies. Most eels live in oceans. Some eels live in fresh water. Eels hide in mud or among rocks during the day. They hunt for food at night. Eels eat shrimps, snails, mussels, and worms.
SEAL
Seals are mammals that live mostly in cold seas. A seal’s body is round in the middle and narrower at the ends. The skin is usually brown, gray, or black. Instead of legs, seals have two pairs of flippers. Flippers help seals to swim. Seals eat mostly fish. Some also eat squid and shellfish.
DOLPHIN
Dolphins are friendly and playful animals. They do not drink water like people. They get all the fresh water from the fish they eat! They breathe air. They feed on fish, squid, and shrimps. They live both in shallow water close to shore and far out in deep dark water.
WHALE
Whales are large animals. They breathe air and produce milk for their young. They can swim fast. Whales live in oceans and seas. They cannot breathe underwater. They must come up to the surface of the water to get air. They make sounds to talk to each other.
Sharks
Sharks are large sea animals. There are several kinds of shark. They can swim fast. They have sharp teeth and big jaws. They also have a strong sense of smell. Some sharks can reach over 20 meters in length. They eat fish, sea lions and seals.
CRAB
Crabs are pretty creatures. They have a hard shell, eight legs and two pincers. They eat plants and animals. Crabs work together to get food and protect their families. Crabs live in all oceans. Some crabs also live in fresh water or on land.
JELLYFISH
Jellyfish live in the sea and are found in all oceans. Some jellyfish live in fresh water. They look a little like umbrellas. Some can be very hard to see. Jellyfish use their tentacles to sting. They don’t have brains. They digest their food very quickly. They dine on fish, shrimp, crabs and tiny plants.
LOBSTER
Lobsters have thin bodies covered in a hard shell. They feed on worms, dead fish and on other lobsters. They cannot see very well. They use their antennae to feel where they are. They hide among rocks on the ocean floor during the day. At night they crawl around looking for fish, crabs, and clams.
